A miniature p.c.b. mounting relay with a single a.c./d.c. polarized coil which is used to set or reset the silver-cadmium-oxide double-pole changer-over contacts rated at 5A. unlike magnet assisted latching relays, a permanent magnet is not used and all relays are supplied in the normally closed (reset) state. To change over the contacts (set state) the coil should be energized, as shown, for a period greater than 10ms, but less than a maximum which is dependent on ambient temperature from 350 sec. (20°C), 190 sec. (40°C) to 65sec. (70°C). This pulse will give the special ferrous core sufficient remanent magnetism to hold the contact in the 'set' state. (A series diode is required for a.c. control voltages). Resetting the relay is achieved with a pulse, as already defined, but using reversed connections (see drawing). When resetting, a series rest resistor (R1) of 680 Ohms 1 W must be used. The relay has the memory and power saving properties of latching relays combined with a compact package size achieved by a single polarized coil. Having a coil voltage of 15 V to 20 V this relay is commonly used in C-MOS circuits. Contact rating 220 V a.c./24 V d.c., 5 A resistive. Electrical life > 2 x 106 operations. Mechanical life> 107 operations. Coil resistance 170 Ohms
