The Harris ICL8211/8212 are micropower bipolar monolithic integrated circuits intended primarily for precise voltage detection and generation. These circuits consist of an accurate voltage reference, a comparator, and a pair of output buffers/drivers. Specifically, the ICL8211 provides a 7mA current limited output sink when the voltage applied to the ‘THRESHOLD’ terminal is less than 1.15V (the internal reference). The ICL8212 requires a voltage in excess of 1.15V to switch its output on (no current limit). Both devices have a low current output (HYSTERESIS) which is switched on for input voltages in excess of 1.15V. The HYSTERESIS output may be used to provide positive and noise-free output switching using a simple feedback network.
